The Hope Inclusive Development Center in Mbarara, Uganda, is funded by The Laurita Spina Bifida Project as an educational and therapeutic center where children with disabilities can receive schooling and vital services while learning alongside their peers without disabilities.

The Laurita Spina Bifida Project
Our mission is to promote awareness of spina bifida and to collaborate with organizations serving the global spina bifida community to address their most pressing needs and connect them with resources.
So far, we have spearheaded projects to provide vital equipment and services to Tanzania, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and now Uganda. Our non-profit has raised and sent funds to Hope for People with Disabilities for the construction and operation of an accessible, inclusive school and therapeutic center for children with and without disabilities in Mbarara, Uganda.

Children with spina bifida continue to be discriminated against, especially in the developing world.
They are denied a chance to participate in activities that promote inclusive development in societies. This makes them more vulnerable to secondary disabilities, all forms of abuse, and always at risk of early mortality.
